Desktop client vs web interface

The Reveal 4D system has two components: a desktop application, and a web application. The desktop client is used for working with 3D models; anything that doesn't involve working with a 3D model is done in the web app. More detail in the table below.

Desktop Web
  • Inspecting surveys
  • Taking measurements
  • Viewing, adding and editing annotations.
  • Uploading new models to the system
  • Adding new coordinate reference systems and transformations
  • Working with annotations in a tabular view
  • Defining schemas for annotation metadata
  • Defining annotation stylesheets (to control how annotations are displayed in the 3D view)
  • Managing users in your account
  • Controlling access permissions and sharing outside your organisation

You can always get from a model in the desktop app to the web page for that model and vice versa.

To open a model in the desktop app from the web, click the "View" link next to the model name:

To open the web page for a model, use the "Show model in web app" button in the left sidebar of the desktop app.
