Network Proxy Settings

Normally, the client will detect the proxy settings configured in windows control panel, if any, and will use them for connecting to the internet.

If you get a 'Connection Error' prompt that the server cannot be located when starting the client, then you may need to setup the proxy settings manually.

If the client has been run at least once then a proxy.settings  file will have been written, which you can now edit. Else you can create a file - see below. The client will use the file when it starts.

Locate the proxy.settings  file and open it with notepad.

It will be located somewhere like C:\\Users\\<username>\\AppData\\LocalLow\\BHA\\Survey Viewer Client

{
"ProxyAddress": "",
"ProxyPort": "",
"ProxyUsername": "",
"ProxyPassword": "",
"PacScriptAddress": ""
}

Enter the address for your proxy server in between the quotes after ProxyAddress

Enter the port for your proxy server in between the quotes after ProxyPort

If the system uses a .pac script to determine the proxy address and it can't be autodetected from the windows settings then enter the path into PacScriptAddress

If you have been given a username and password then enter in between the quotes after ProxyUsername  and ProxyPassword

If the username or password are not filled in then the default windows user credentials will be used

How Reveal4D determines the proxy server address

On startup Reveal4D will determine the proxy server to use by following the steps in the order shown:

  1. If proxy.settings has the ProxyAddress set it will use that as the address.
  2. If the proxy.settings has the PacScriptAddress  set, it will query that script to get the proxy address.
  3. If the following registry entry is set it will query the script at that location to get the proxy address
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\AutoConfigURL
  1. Otherwise - no proxy is used
